I recently discovered a great creative forum called the 99%. An article there resonates with me about launching early. I think Open Life launched early compared to many church models out there, but I also think it has been a mark of our success to this point. We took the idea of a new church in Bonney Lake from idea to launch date in 9 months. And really we have broken many rules of starting a new church by not having some things tooled out perfectly such as how we word our beliefs, our core values and similar traditional elements necessary before launch.
What we did have was culture! We have an open culture with a firm grasp on being the church Jesus spoke of and modeled in scripture. A culture that is more present in community and makes a tangible difference in the community, not opposing it, but adding value to it. A church that has it’s entire focus on the first time guest with no church experience. Where every Sunday is for the new, and not building a culture of comfort for the “member”. Always looking out…
But staring us in the face are always questions of elements we need to process, fix, work on and tweak. But in the Beta culture of our world this is good! Thus this article resonates….give it a read: The Beta Principle.
Great, great insight! …and totally true. Go beta! It’s better!
